After Welcome Rain........

With the welcome rain we had last week and more forecast for the weekend, now is an excellent time to plant out any young plants raised elsewhere. Cauliflowers, winter cabbages, leeks are all worth planting now.

You could also make use of the moisture to sow a late crop of carrots or dwarf French beans.

As well as this, it is a good time to lock in the moisture with a mulch. Mulching is probably one of the best uses for the horse litter (manure) in the heaps around the site.

Hopefully you have hoed all the weeds down during the dry weather - or they will rocket much faster than your plants.
