Digging!

If you haven't completed your digging, do so as soon as possible. Leave it much longer and you lose moisture from the soil that will be essential later in the season.

The weeds have begun to grow rapidly. Hoe them off as soon as possible, before they get too large and get more difficult to deal with - and seed themselves.

Once you see weeds starting to germinate and there is a green 'bloom', then it is OK to sow any of your seeds direct. Just wait for reasonable weather when you can prepare a good seed bed with a hoe or cultivator.
