An update from the committee. 9th January 2014
On Wednesday 11th December the borough council activated its Schedule of Modifications to the Submitted Core Strategy Document.
This document is designed to allow the inspector to approve the Core Strategy as sound and will then pave the way for building to cover the green fields of the Roeshot Hill area and of East Dorset starting in 2016. We have in effect lost our case.
This does not necessarily mean that we will all lose our allotments there and then. The North Christchurch Master Plan Report of 2011 showed the development of the allotment site coming late in the nine year project. Schedules can of course change but we may have some time on our plots yet. There is a clear commitment to relocate the allotment site but once again the words’ north of the railway line’ have been struck out’ The committee will not submit any response to the document. We can only comment on the revised proposals if we have anything new to add. The inspector will not accept a rehash of our previous submissions as she has those on file anyway. If individual members wish to comment we have until 22nd January 2014 to do so.
Once the Core Strategy is approved what is known as the Section 8 procedure comes into play when there will be detailed negotiations between the borough council, landowner and others on one side and RHAA on the other. It is to be hoped that NSALG will be able to offer us more assistance at that stage.
The committee is most unhappy with the outcome of the inquiry and with RHAA’s contract with the borough council for management of the site. It may well bring forward the date of the AGM to March 2014 to discuss its options with you the members.
