Filling Potholes - Final report
Today, Monday 24th March, Alan Ruck and myself, with a little help from one other allotmenteer, ran a vibrating roller over the most repaired sections of the roadways.
It was very hard work and the effect was rather questionable. While some of the loose material was compacted the machine was unable to reduce the bumps without loosening the infill completely. We were unable to cover the whole site before running out of energy.
So we will continue to have a series of speed bumps throughout the site.
However, there still remains an amount of scalpings next to the café, and wheelbarrows to borrow, for you to fill in any potholes that appear after the work of all the volunteers over the past few weeks.
The situation is now much better than it was in the New Year. If everyone followed the example of those who have been filling potholes while they are still small, we can all have the smooth run like that at the far corner of the site.
Thank you to everyone who helped.
