Save our Allotments

The Core Strategy being drawn up by Christchurch Borough Council and East Dorset District Council is a plan for the development of the area for the future.

Part of that plan is to allow a development of about 1000 houses between the railway and the Lyndhurst Road and Christchurch Bypass from Roeshot Hill to Stoney Cross. The proposed development encompasses Roeshot Allotments.

The Association, at the 2013 AGM, decided to try to get the allotment site retained "at the heart of the community" as outlined in the Council's own Allotment Strategy.

The committee has done its best to achieve this objective but things do not look good at present! However, even if we cannot stop the allotments being re-sited, and there are one or two more stages to go, the actual move will probably be in several years’ time; not less than 2/3 and possibly 9 years.

Click on the following links to see the stages that have already happened, or, in the future, will come to pass.
