27th November - Brief Sunday visit

27/11/2022

As I was dog sitting today, I arrived on site rather later than usual after taking the dog for a walk. My son Ivor had already dug out several barrowloads of leafmould for next year's legume bed so I felt it only fitting to reward him with a fresh brew of coffee using my Ghillie kettle.
Afterwards he finished off shifting the last few barrowloads onto the 'Roots' bed and we fixed the open side back in place ready for the next batch of leaves going straight into the bin.
What did I do? I merely dug out a few of the strawberry runners that had rooted outside the strawberry bed.
When he has gone home I lifted the bottom of the butterfly netting down one side on the second brassica tunnel, screwing a screw into the blue piping frame to hook it up to and leaving the 2 inch square netting exposed. Now the small birds can get in on both tunnels to deal with the whitefly on the cabbages and cauliflowers but the pigeons can't.
