More leaf sorting and starting off the new compost bin!

14/11/2022

I came down to the plot to sort the builders sacks I had left yesterday without weighing them down. I arrived to find one had already been blown onto the track!
I moved it to where I could fill it with some of this year's leaves that I had been given already. Result - 3 bags neatly arranged behind my leafmould bins and filled from 5 bags of my neighbour's leaves and some of my own.
Having sorted that, I transferred the contents of the trailer from home to the compost bin. The shredded Jerusalem artichoke stems followed by the tops of some lavender went into the bottom of the new empty compost bin to form a nice well draining layer at the bottom. Then I added the 2 bags of grass cuttings and spread them. The thicker stalks of the lavender went into the incinerator along with some old raspberry canes pruned off the summer raspberries.
I then decided to not start any other big jobs and deal with servicing the security cameras, changing the batteries and the chips before going home for lunch taking the chips to check on my laptop all the photos taken during the last fortnight.
