Planting strawberries.

22/11/2022

Although it was late I needed to come down to the plot to empty the kitchen waste bin into the compost.
I then went back to the strawberries. I have 6 Royal Sovereign, an old faithful, to compliment the Elsanta, a modern variety. I dug out a strip along the side of the bed and planted a row of alternate 'Royal Sovereign'  and runners from the 'Elsanta' (and others) from the bed. I have decided to divide the bed into quarters with one quarter (of about 4 foot square) planted with my new 'Everbearing' strawberry 'Flamenco' and 3 quarters for the mixed strawberry varieties to be refurbished one quarter  each year.
There was no time before dusk for me to prepare and plant up the 'Everbearing' quarter before going home.
