Start emptying the leafmould bin!

20/11/2022

Welcoming the help of my son, we first had to clear the accumulated rubbish from the top of the bin (it is a convenient dumping ground next to the gate). Then we had to open the pallet opening to get to the actual leafmould. Having untied the ropes holding it shut we lifted the pallet off the posts fixing it upright.
Once opened it became clear that the leafmould was looking good. Still lots of leaf but crumbling, rich and deep brown after 2 years in the bin or bag.
While my son started loading it into the wheelbarrow I went to clear space for newly arrived strawberry plants. However I quickly realised it would be necessary to clear another bed for leafmould as my son fetched 6 barrowloads each for the two beds already cleared.
However, I looked up to see he had set up the Ghillie kettle for coffee. After coffee we did the harvesting as we both had to get away early.
He took some broccoli and we both took leeks and carrots.
